Industry & research collaboration

Work with the Hydrogen Research & Development Centre

We collaborate with businesses, technology developers, industrial operators, universities and public-sector organisations.

Industry and research partners discussing hydrogen technology at the Hydrogen Research Centre

Start with the challenge

A collaboration may be a focused test programme, a joint R&D project or a longer-term technology demonstration.

We help define the research question, choose the right experimental approach and generate useful evidence.

Collaborative R&D

Joint research questions, experiments and technology development.

Testing & validation

Performance, gas quality, components and high-pressure systems.

Pilot & demonstration

Integrated equipment and real-world operating evidence.

Technology testing and systems integration

Potential work includes electrolysers, purification, compression, valves, pressure components, gas-quality analysis, fuel cells and complete hydrogen systems. Programmes are shaped around the maturity and objectives of the technology, from focused component studies through to integrated pilot systems.

Hydrogen safety and industrial decarbonisation

We bring practical experience of HAZOP, HAZID, DSEAR, ATEX and safe system design, alongside wider work on hydrogen production, fuel switching, infrastructure and interaction with other decarbonisation options. Where appropriate, we can also help develop the technical case and evidence base needed for collaborative funding proposals.

Three simple steps

An initial discussion is usually enough to establish whether our expertise and facilities are a good fit.

1. Describe the technology or challenge

2. Define what you need to learn or demonstrate

3. Shape the scope, facilities and route together

What do you need to test or demonstrate?

The final site will provide a short enquiry form focused on your technology, challenge and collaboration needs.
