HCNG Refuelling
In addition to Wales' first hydrogen refuelling station, the Hydrogen Centre hosts a specialised refueller that allows mixtures of hydrogen and compressed natural gas (CNG). In many parts of the world, CNG is a common vehicle fuel. This is not the case in the UK although there is growing interest due to the potential to both save cost and reduce CO2 emissions.
The University of Glamorgan is interested in extending these benefits by investigating the benefits of blending amounts of hydrogen with CNG for use in vehicles. Part of this interest arises from SERC's research into biohydrogen and biomethane production via fermentative processes.
